How nice it is that our president with his hand in everyone's pocket has come out with a new proposal to offer free community college to everyone who is "willing to work for it." What do you suppose it means when President Obama says, "willing to work for it"?
Don't you think that if you actually have to pay for community college yourself then you are willing to work for it? After all, if you go out and get a job and pay for your own community college, then you are essentially already working for it. But, if you are going to get it for free, then you really aren't working for it, are you?
And exactly where does the president get off calling this free? Obama made this proposal in his State of the Union Speech last Tuesday night and he positioned it so that if the Republican Congress doesn't pass this then they are heartless lovers of millionaires who don't care for the working man, college students and little guy of course.
But of course the president lies and says Democrats and Republicans should work together in Washington, but now he will divide the country at taxpayer's expense by flying around the country telling everyone who will listen how mean rich people and Republicans are.
However, the bottom line is, this free proposal is going to cost $60 billion over 10 years, which actually means if the government figured out it would cost $60 billion, by the time all is said and done it will cost 3 times as much and come in somewhere in the neighborhood of $180 billion over 10 years. And then the program will be permanent, like all social programs end up.
But do you get it that it's not free? Anything that has a $60 billion price tag is obviously NOT free, the money has to come from somewhere. Do liberals ever think about that? Does President Obama ever think about that?
